80% Manzoni 20% Trebbiano
We have called it “GIALLO SIENA” after the famous yellow marble from this area
Like the marble which inspired its name, the grapes used to make this wine come from 60 year old MANZONI variety vines brought in Tuscany by immigrant farmers from the Veneto region after the Second World War. The Manzoni vine is a hybrid between Pinot Bianco and Riesling Renano. In the whole Italian territory, there are only 900 acres officially being grown. The Tuscan soil with a high mineral structure and a natural fermentation in stainless steel vats gives to the Giallo Siena high acidity and minerality. It is flowery on the nose with notes of scotch broom, and on the palate has a perfect mix of acidity and freshness with a distinctive pineapple taste. It should be served at 8 degrees celsius and it can easily last in your cellar for 2 years. Giallo Siena perfectly pares with fresh cheese, fish and Antipasti.
